Action Fraud is warning the public to remain vigilant as criminals begin to take advantage of the roll out of the COVID-19 vaccine to commit fraud.

Remember, the vaccine is free of charge. At no point will you be asked to pay.

– The NHS will never ask you for your bank account or card details.

– The NHS will never ask you for your PIN or banking password.

– The NHS will never arrive unannounced at your home to administer the vaccine.

– The NHS will never ask you to prove your identity by sending copies of personal documents such as your passport, driving licence, bills or pay slips.

GOV.UK WhatsApp Coronavirus Information Service: A new GOV.UK WhatsApp Coronavirus Information Service has now been launched. The purpose of this product is to combat the spread of misinformation propagated through WhatsApp on an Official Government channel. To use the service, members of the public simply add +44 7860 064422 to their contacts and send a WhatsApp message saying “Hi”. Please promote this service through your channels.

Foodbank deliveries – contact Deal Foodbank

The Sandwich Foodbank has closed on a temporary basis. Food and provisions can be obtained by contacting the Deal Area Foodbank on 01304 – 728428 who are operating a home delivery service. Deliveries are normally the next working day with the most vulnerable being prioritised.

This is a free, confidential, telephone, befriending and helpline service to share worries and fears for people aged 55 and over. It is available 24 hours, seven days a week.  The number is a free-line.
