Referendum 22 July Why?
Ash Neighbourhood Development Plan – five years in the making and it is time for you to decide – YES or NO at the referendum on Thursday 22nd July. You will be asked the question: “Do you want Dover District Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Ash to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”.
If the majority of those voting say YES – it will be a legal planning document and the plan and its policies will be used to help decide planning applications for the Ash Parish.
The plan has policies on climate change, biodiversity, protecting open and green spaces, how development takes place, conservation and design, supporting businesses and encouraging tourism. There are five sites and there are specific policies on how these sites could be developed.
If the majority say NO – it can still be used by the parish council to take forward projects based on residents’ aims for shaping the future of Ash. There is evidence and information that can be used for projects such as improving road safety, encouraging biodiversity and finding ways to improve local recreational facilities.
