Introducing Ash Parish Council’s Chair
Dear Parishioners,
I would like to introduce myself as the newly appointed Chair of Ash Parish Council.
I have been proud to have served as a Parish Councillor for the past 6 years, filling the roles of Deputy Chair and Chair of the Planning Committee.
I moved to the village of Ash from Devon with my wife and, wanting to meet people and get involved in my new community, came along to one of the coffee mornings at the Village Hall. After chatting to Councillors, I was interested in the work of the Parish Council and volunteered my services.
During my time at the Parish Council, I have been privileged to work with so many dedicated Councillors who have offered their time to improve our local community.
Work of the Parish Council falls into three main categories:
- Delivery of services, such as the facilities of the recreation ground, including allotments and play park
- Improving quality of life for residents, helping to create a Parish we can all be proud to call our home
- Giving communities a democratic voice in government at grass roots level, particularly in important areas such as planning and highway improvements.
We are a friendly and pro-active group of Councillors but are not at full capacity with four vacant seats on the Council.
We are currently co-opting new members which means new Councillors can join the Parish Council outside of the normal election process to fill vacant seats.
I would encourage anyone who has been thinking about joining us, but never quite getting around to it, to take this opportunity to get involved.
Working as a Parish Councillor you will be playing a vital role in representing the local community and ensuring essential local needs are met – listening and dealing with what matters to local residents, and YOU!
