Oil Deposits Along the Coast
Update: Deposits of oil and tar have been found along the stretch of coast between Deal Pier and Sandwich Bay. Sadly, dead seabirds and other marine life have also been found.
Inspections have taken place and we are working to clear the deposits as quickly as possible. We are also arranging for the immediate removal of any dead marine animals.
We continue to support our partners as they work to establish the source.
Dog owners are asked to keep their dogs on leads along the affected coast and beach users are advised to keep away from oil deposits. While investigations are underway, we are also advising people to avoid swimming.
