Sign the A257 Road Safety Measures Petition

Following years of campaigning for safety improvements on the A257 through KCC’s Highway Improvement Plan scheme with Parish Councils, no positive results have been achieved thus far.

The A257 Traffic Group (of which Ash Parish Council is a member) are calling on KCC to act and improve safety along the A257, including the Ash Bypass.

Too many fatal and serious collisions have occurred on this stretch of road.

The A257 Group is proposing:

  • a 50mph speed limit on the Ash bypass
  • a 40mph speed limit in the hamlet of Shatterling
  • central double white lines on the Roman Road
  • and enforcement of the speed limits

to improve safety for everyone living, working, walking, cycling, riding and driving on this road.

The petition is supported by Ash Parish Councillors, Sir Roger Gale MP and Kent Police Neighbourhood Beat Officer PC Jon Bowler.
