Congratulations to Kurtis
Kurtis Young from Ash Bowling Club won the County Unbadged Singles competition at Halls Bowls Club near Dartford, on Sunday 7th August, beating Connor Hayes from Queensborough 21-16.
This now allows Kurtis to play for Kent in various matches and he could even progress to playing for England one day!!
The last time any player attained their county badge at Ash was in 1996, so this is a very big achievement for him and hopefully will lead to bigger things.

Are you a home-owner and are looking to reduce your heating costs for the coming winter. Dover District Council has funding for residents vulnerable to living in a cold home (elderly/health conditions/low income/in receipt of benefits) to help with heating/boiler repairs and insulation to help reduce energy costs.

New Support Fund for Households
Help for vulnerable households across the country from a new government support fund for essentials over the winter.
This is for people who would otherwise struggle to buy food or pay essential utility bills or meet other essential living costs of housing costs this winter.
Eligible support could include:
- Food
- Energy and water (including sewerage)
- Essentials linked to energy and water
- Wider essentials subject to discussion
- Housing costs in exceptional cases of genuine emergency
If you feel you are eligible to access this fund (this includes pensioners, people with health conditions, low income, in receipt of benefits) please contact Sandwich Age Concern on 01304 614 237 and they will be able to explain if they can help you.
Even if you are unsure, please do ring them if you are having problems or are worried about meeting living costs this winter. You may also know someone who could need help but does not have access to the internet. Have a chat – there could be help for them.
Summer Anniversary Ball
On Saturday 10th September, Ash Rugby Club will be celebrating its first 25 years with a Summer Ball at Bettshanger Country Park. Places are limited and will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Tickets are £50 and all profits will go to Ash RFC.
