Burford Alley resurfaced and re-open!

We’re thrilled to share that the long-awaited repairs and resurfacing of Footpath EE107 (From The Street to Footpath EE106), also known as Burford Alley, are now complete – and what a remarkable transformation it is!
This well-loved footpath had become nearly impassable during the winter, but thanks to Kent County Council, and funding from S106 developer contributions (Land at White Post Farm – planning application 16/01247), Burford Alley is back and better than ever!
Whether you’re taking a leisurely stroll or heading out for a brisk walk, this significant upgrade ensures the path remains accessible and enjoyable for everyone in the village.
We kindly remind everyone to respect our public footpaths:
  • Please clean up after your dog
  • No littering – let’s keep our paths beautiful for all! Please use the public litter bins available across the village
Thank you for helping us cherish and maintain this wonderful community space.

Introducing Ash Parish Council’s Chair

Dear Parishioners,

I would like to introduce myself as the newly appointed Chair of Ash Parish Council.

I have been proud to have served as a Parish Councillor for the past 6 years, filling the roles of Deputy Chair and Chair of the Planning Committee.

I moved to the village of Ash from Devon with my wife and, wanting to meet people and get involved in my new community, came along to one of the coffee mornings at the Village Hall. After chatting to Councillors, I was interested in the work of the Parish Council and volunteered my services.

During my time at the Parish Council, I have been privileged to work with so many dedicated Councillors who have offered their time to improve our local community.

Work of the Parish Council falls into three main categories:

  • Delivery of services, such as the facilities of the recreation ground, including allotments and play park
  • Improving quality of life for residents, helping to create a Parish we can all be proud to call our home
  • Giving communities a democratic voice in government at grass roots level, particularly in important areas such as planning and highway improvements.

We are a friendly and pro-active group of Councillors but are not at full capacity with four vacant seats on the Council.

We are currently co-opting new members which means new Councillors can join the Parish Council outside of the normal election process to fill vacant seats.

I would encourage anyone who has been thinking about joining us, but never quite getting around to it, to take this opportunity to get involved.

Working as a Parish Councillor you will be playing a vital role in representing the local community and ensuring essential local needs are met  –  listening and dealing with what matters to local residents, and YOU!

Resurfacing of Burford’s Alley

Footpath EE107 (From The Street to Footpath EE106) – otherwise known as Burford’s Alley – is set to receive much-needed resurfacing and repair by Kent County Council.
Consequently, Burford’s Alley will be closed from 24th February for up to 5 days.
We appreciate your patience and understanding whilst this work takes place to improve our community’s pathways.

Highway Improvement Plan – A257 – Share Your Experiences

The A257 Working Group is compiling a paper for Kent County Council to address local Parish Council concerns about the A257 focussing on Shatterling to White Mills roundabout. This group, made up of representatives from Parish Councils along the A257, meets bi-monthly to discuss and take action to address safety issues, roadworks and proposed developments.
We need your input!
Have you experienced safety concerns while using the A257 Ash Bypass (driving, walking, cycling, or riding)? Please share your experience by emailing email hidden; JavaScript is required by 5 February. Your comments will remain anonymous.
We’re aware of the desire to reduce the speed limit on the bypass and continue to actively discuss this with KCC Highways. Improving safety on the A257 Ash Bypass is a top priority for Ash Parish Council.

ADVANCE NOTICE – Car Park Closures

The Dover District Council car parks in Ash will be having a spruce up for the new year with Veolia carrying out some general cleansing and tidying up of vegetation.

 

As a result, our village car parks will have FULL CLOSURES on the following dates.

 

The Street Car Park  –  Thursday 2nd January

 

Queens Road Car Park  –  Friday 3rd January

 

Please ensure your vehicles are removed from these car parks in advance. If any vehicles are blocking access for the crew that part won’t be cleansed.
